Edifiée à la croisée du 12ème et 13ème siècle, la commanderie de la Chaufranche se compose d'un choeur à chevet plat, voûté en berceau et ouvert d'une baie romane. Postérieure au chur, la nef est un peu moins large mais plus haute et ses murs sont de moindre épaisseur. Des fouilles entreprises au sol ont mises au jour des sépultures. Il subsiste enfin sur les murs des traces d'enduits et de blasons décoratifs. Le logis, érigé vers 1460, s'apparente aux maisons fortes de la région. Il se présente sous la forme d'un donjon rectangulaire auquel est accolée une tourelle d'escalier semi-circulaire. Sa structure intérieure et les cheminées monumentales des deux salles situées au rez-de-chaussée et au premier étage ont été préservées.

History
Built at the intersection of the 12th and 13th centuries, the commandery of la Chaufranche is composed of a choir with a flat chevet, vaulted with a barrel vault and opened by a round arch opening. Posterior to the choir, the nave is slightly narrower but taller and its walls are of lesser thickness. Excavations undertaken on the ground have uncovered burials. There finally remain on the walls traces of render and decorative coats of arms. The main dwelling, erected around 1460, is akin to the fortified houses of the region. It presents itself in the form of a rectangular keep to which is attached a semi-circular stair turret. Its interior structure and the monumental fireplaces of the two rooms located on the ground floor and first floor have been preserved.
