Historique
Le château de Montbrun fut construit pour défendre la vallée du Mars. Il a été le siège d'une importante seigneurie durant tout le Moyen Age et a appartenu à la même famille, les Montclar, jusqu'en 1789. Après une destruction par les Espagnols en 1452, il est immédiatement reconstruit. En 1683, un état des lieux décrit le château avec un donjon crénelé et plusieurs tours. History
The château of Montbrun was built to defend the valley of the Mars. It was the seat of an important seigneury throughout the Middle Ages and belonged to the same family, the Montclar, until 1789. After destruction by the Spanish in 1452, it was immediately rebuilt. In 1683, a report describes the château with a crenellated keep and several towers. The interior is very well furnished with an archive room. In 1756, the château was abandoned, the lord of Montclar settling in the château of la Trémolière. Montbrun began to deteriorate; in 1789, it was partly in ruins and contained no furniture. The main dwelling was rebuilt in the early 19th century; most of the interior decoration dates from the 19th century.
