Dès septembre 1944, un comité se constitua pour élever un monument à la mémoire des victimes de la barbarie allemande dans le département de l'Aveyron. Le plan du monument fut dressé par l'architecte ruthénois Jean Vigouroux. Le groupe sculpté, réalisé par le sculpteur Henry Parayre, représente deux hommes, torse nu, allongés et ligotés. Les noms des 212 victimes sont gravés sur des dalles de marbre.

History
On 17 August 1944, the day of the withdrawal of German troops from Rodez, thirty prisoners were shot at the shooting range of Sainte-Radegonde by a detachment of SS. As of September 1944, a committee was constituted to erect a monument in memory of the victims of German barbarism in the department of Aveyron. The plan of the monument was drawn by the architect of Rodez Jean Vigouroux. The sculptured group, realised by the sculptor Henry Parayre, represents two men, bare-chested, lying down and bound. The names of the 212 victims are engraved on marble slabs.
