Historique
En 1907 fut fondée l'Oeuvre carcassonnaise des Bains-douches, aux fins de faciliter l'hygiène individuelle. Avec l'aide de la mairie de Caracassonne, l'Oeuvre put acquérir un terrain et confier à l'architecte Léon Vassas, maître d'oeuvre du Grand théâtre de la Cité, la construction d'un établissement qui fut inauguré en décembre 1910. L'établissement comprenait huit cabines pour les hommes et six pour les femmes. Chaque cabine contenait deux petites pièces. La première formant un carré de 1m20 de côté était pour se déshabiller, et contenait un siège fixe, une tablette, une glace, des porte-manteaux, un caillebotis au sol. La seconde de même dimension était la salle d'aspersion, séparée de la première par un rideau en toile. Les parois étaient revêtues de briques blanches, biseautées, en grès. Le bâtiment abrite aujourd'hui une crèche.

History
In 1907 was founded the Carcassonne Work of Public Baths, for the purpose of facilitating individual hygiene. With the aid of the municipality of Carcassonne, the Work was able to acquire a plot of land and entrust to the architect Léon Vassas, master of works of the Grand theatre of the Cité, the construction of an establishment which was inaugurated in December 1910. The establishment comprised eight cabins for men and six for women. Each cabin contained two small rooms. The first forming a square of 1m20 on a side was for undressing, and contained a fixed seat, a shelf, a mirror, coat hooks, and a grating on the floor. The second of the same dimensions was the shower room, separated from the first by a canvas curtain. The walls were lined with white bricks, bevelled, in stoneware. The building today houses a crèche.
