Historique

History
The earliest mentions of the castle date to the 12th century. Five campaigns of construction or remodelling can be determined: late 12th-13th century: west wing (keep); 15th-late 16th century: enlargement to the north (windows with cross-frames, curtain wall, two towers erected in 1591); early 17th century: enlargement of the main dwelling to the east; 18th century: U-shaped plan of the east wing, decoration of gypswork; 19th century: installation of the spiral staircase. The building consists of three blocks arranged in a U around a courtyard to the north. The main block, very elongated, is substantially oriented east-west. Two large cylindrical towers flank the south-east and north-east angles, while two turrets rising from the ground, of rectangular plan, project from the north façade of the western wing. The oldest block corresponds to the west wing, including the western part of the central block, the original nucleus of the castle, a sort of keep of slightly trapezoidal plan. This keep must have stood inside an enclosure defended by secondary works.
