Historique
Tour-porte construite à la fin du 15e siècle (dernier vestige de l'enceinte urbaine de Peyrat), de plan carré, élevée de cinq niveaux dont un de cave. Ses façades sud et nord sont percées d'une large porte à arc brisé et d'une fenêtre à chaque niveau. Sur la façade sud se voient en outre les petites baies superposées éclairant un escalier à vis dans l'épaisseur du mur à l'angle sud-ouest. La façade ouest porte deux latrines en encorbellement. A l'intérieur, la tour a conservé quasiment intact son aménagement d'origine, composé d'une salle dallée de granit au premier étage, avec plafond à poutres et solivages apparents, cheminées à chacun des trois étages habitables, fenêtres à coussièges, latrines d'angles. A cette tour s'ajoute un corps de logis rectangulaire du 16e siècle, appuyé contre un fragment de l'ancien mur d'enceinte, et remanié au 18e siècle. Le corps de logis communique avec la tour par les caves et par le premier étage. Les distributions intérieures ont été modifiées par des aménagements modernes.

History
Gate tower constructed at the end of the 15th century (last remaining vestige of the urban enclosure of Peyrat), of square plan, raised to five storeys including one of cellar. Its south and north façades are pierced with a wide broken-arched gateway and a window at each storey. On the south façade are also seen the small superposed openings lighting a spiral staircase in the thickness of the wall at the south-west angle. The west façade bears two latrines in corbel. At the interior, the tower has retained almost intact its original fitting-out, composed of a hall paved in granite on the first storey with ceiling of exposed beams and joists, fireplaces at each of the three habitable storeys, windows with coussièges, corner latrines. To this tower is added a rectangular dwelling of the 16th century set against a fragment of the old enclosure wall and reworked in the 18th century. The dwelling communicates with the tower by the cellars and by the first storey. The interior distributions have been modified by modern fittings.
