Historique
A la fin du 19e siècle, construction d'un pont suspendu par un industriel pour ménager un accès à son château néogothique. C'est l'un des vestiges de la série des ponts construits à la fin du 19e siècle afin de favoriser les communications sur l'Allier et la Loire. La technique adoptée, celle des ponts suspendus, inspirée de l'architecture américaine, s'avère fragile. L'ouvrage est représentatif d'une technique originale et utilisée peu de temps. Les culées sont maçonnées en pierre régionale, chacune d'elles est formée de deux obélisques en pierre appareillée avec un chaînage de nature différente. Elles supportent les câbles de suspension et transmettent les charges par un arc de décharge de 4, 80 mètres d'ouverture. Les câbles sont ancrés à la base des culées. Tous les arcs et arêtes sont appareillés en polychromie, avec des claveaux alternés de pierre de couleur blanche et ferreuse. History
At the end of the 19th century, construction of a suspension bridge by an industrialist to provide access to his neogothic castle. It is one of the remains of the series of bridges built at the end of the 19th century to promote communications over the Allier and Loire. The technique adopted, that of suspension bridges, inspired by American architecture, proved to be fragile. The structure is representative of an original technique used for only a short time. The abutments are masoned in regional stone, each of them is formed of two obelisks in dressed stone with pointing of a different nature. They support the suspension cables and transmit the loads by a discharge arch of 4.80 metres span. The cables are anchored at the base of the abutments. All the arches and ribs are dressed in polychromy, with alternating voussoirs of white and ferruginous stone. The keeper's lodge has two levels, one having its entrance at bridge level, the other giving access to the riverbank.
