Fortified house of the late Middle Ages which should originally have been composed of a keep with a room on each of its four storeys. Devoid of sufficient defensive works, the castle could not resist the Calvinists who took it in 1574. The baron of Saint-Vidal retook it. A wing was then added to it, with its central spine staircase. The present whole is arranged in a U around a rectangular courtyard and has retained its defensive character. It was remodelled in the 18th century, with re-opening of the openings of the south façade. The redistribution of rooms at this period affected the whole of the castle except the first storey of the keep. The interior shows a fine 17th century baluster staircase and a salon whose painted decoration would be of the 19th century.
