Historique
Le bâtiment est situé sur l'ancienne place des Halles, sur l'ancienne route menant d'Orléans à Sancerre. Il était accosté, au début du 20e siècle, d'une maison à pans de bois datant de 1636 et aujourd'hui détruite. L'édifice est de plan rectangulaire, à trois niveaux, sans fondations, desservis par une cage d'escalier carrée dans-oeuvre. Une véranda supportant un escalier extérieur et une aile constituée d'une pièce sont postérieurs. La façade sur la place présente une sablière moulurée reposant sur quatre poteaux sculptés de motifs différents. Sur la façade nord, une galerie devait exister pour desservir les pièces à l'étage. A l'intérieur, tous les pans de bois ont été conservés. Les planchers ont conservé une partie de leurs tommettes. Les cheminées anciennes ont disparu ou sont réduites à l'état de vestiges. L'étage du comble a conservé sa structure ancienne dont une charpente à entrait retroussé.

History
The building is situated on the former Halles Square, on the former road leading from Orléans to Sancerre. It was adjoined, at the beginning of the 20th century, by a timber-framed house dating from 1636 and now destroyed. The building is rectangular in plan, with three storeys, without foundations, served by a square staircase cage within the structure. A veranda supporting an external staircase and a wing consisting of one room are later additions. The façade facing the square presents a moulded eaves beam resting on four posts carved with different motifs. On the north façade, a gallery must have existed to serve the rooms on the upper storey. In the interior, all the timber framing has been preserved. The floorboards have retained part of their tiles. The old fireplaces have disappeared or are reduced to the state of remains. The attic storey has retained its old structure including a roof structure with a raised tie-beam.
