Historique
Le château est mentionné dans le premier livre des Miracula Sancti Benedicti, rédigé par Adrevald à la fin du 9e siècle. La tour a été érigée sur une motte artificielle faite par les hommes. La motte devait être au centre ou en un point latéral d'une enceinte, la chemise du donjon, à l'intérieur de laquelle s'abritaient les bâtiments de dépendances dont il reste quelques vestiges dans le village. Le donjon n'avait pas d'accès au rez-de-chaussée. L'habitation du seigneur et de sa famille se situait à l'étage, au-dessus duquel logeaient les enfants, les gardes et les serviteurs. Au sommet se trouvait une terrasse à galeries, pour la défense. L'ouvrage est de plan polygonal, en maçonnerie de silex, à chaînage de pierre de taille aux arêtes.

History
The castle is mentioned in the first book of the Miracula Sancti Benedicti, written by Adrevald at the end of the 9th century. The tower was erected on an artificial motte made by men. The motte was to be at the centre or at a lateral point of an enclosure, the castle's enceinte, inside which sheltered the dependent buildings of which some remains subsist in the village. At the summit was found a terrace with galleries, for defence. The work is of polygonal plan, in flint masonry, with stone dressing at the edges.
