Historique

History
Summer and winter swimming pool, forming part of a 25-hectare municipal sports park, the project for which was adopted by the socialist municipality in 1931. The complex was designed by municipal architect Jean Montariol with the assistance of engineer Charles Baruteaud. The three summer pools - the hygiene pool, the children's pool and the sports pool, surrounded by stands for 2,000 spectators - are served by a large central building containing changing rooms and showers. This building also houses the two winter pools, a banqueting hall and a physical education institute with two gymnasiums. Project management was entrusted to the Office public des Habitations à Bon Marché de Toulouse, before being taken over directly by the municipality. The construction works were carried out by the Charpentiers Toulousains, directed by Paul Barthe. The entrance portico, known as the "Minaret", designed by architect Robert Armandary, was built in 1931. The summer pool was inaugurated the same year, the winter pool building in 1934. The decoration of this building includes sculptures by Parayre and Manaut and an allegory of sports in flamed stoneware by Violet. Work on the stadium was begun in 1938 but interrupted by the war, not being completed until 1952, under the direction of Emile Aillaud, architect delegated by the Ministry of Sports.
