La caserne dite caserne Bazeilles, édifiée en 1758, est le seul élément subsistant d'un vaste projet conçu par l'ingénieur Decaux en 1750 qui prévoyait la construction d'une ville neuve sur le Roc. De 1780 à 1783 fut construite la citerne de la garnison, sur les fondations de laquelle fut élevé un second casernement, terminé en 1788, appelé caserne Gênes-Champagne.

The barracks known as barracks Bazeilles, built in 1758, is the only remaining element of a vast project conceived by engineer Decaux in 1750 which provided for the construction of a new town on the Roc.
