L'hôtel d'Alaman, dit aussi Le Châtelet, fut construit par Nicolas Alaman, ambassadeur de François Ier auprès des principautés italiennes. Il en rapporta sans doute l'influence des palais italiens et dota la ville d'un hôtel dont la cour d'honneur était plaquée, sur deux côtés, d'une galerie aux clefs de voûte sculptées. Le bâtiment présentait un plan en fer à cheval. Il se composait d'un corps de logis central et de deux ailes en retour autrefois reliées par une galerie donnant sur la place du Châtelet. Les deux ailes ainsi que la galerie ont été démolies.

History
The hôtel d'Alaman, also called Le Châtelet, was built by Nicolas Alaman, ambassador of François Ier to the Italian principalities. He doubtless brought back the influence of Italian palaces and provided the town with a hôtel whose court of honour was faced, on two sides, with a gallery with sculpted vault keys. The building presented a horseshoe plan. It consisted of a central main dwelling and two wing returns formerly linked by a gallery overlooking the place du Châtelet. The two wings as well as the gallery were demolished.
