Historique
Edifice essentiellement roman. L'abside est l'élément le plus sculpté (métopes à palmettes et rinceaux, modillons, arcature...) et la façade offre un rythme d'arcatures très saintongeais. A l'intérieur, le choeur et la travée sous clocher avec des chapiteaux ornés de griffons et de lions, le mur sud de la nef qui a gardé les colonnes à chapiteaux à feuillages en crochets, sont de belle facture romane. A la fin du Moyen Age, une chapelle de trois travées voûtées d'ogives, a été ajoutée au nord. Son mur oriental est couvert, au-dessus d'un autel néo-gothique, de peintures dédiées à la Vierge. En même temps sans doute que fut édifiée cette chapelle, le clocher a été surélevé et fortifié.

History
Building essentially Romanesque. The apse is the most sculptured element (metopes with palmettes and rinceaux, modillions, arcading...) and the façade offers a rhythm of arcading very characteristic of Saintonge. Inside, the choir and the bay under the bell tower with capitals ornamented with griffons and lions, the south wall of the nave which has retained the columns with crocket foliage capitals, are of fine Romanesque workmanship. At the end of the Middle Ages, a chapel of three bays vaulted with ribs was added to the north. Its eastern wall is covered, above a neo-Gothic altar, with paintings dedicated to the Virgin. At the same time, no doubt, as this chapel was built, the bell tower was raised and fortified.
