Fondé en 1103, ce prieuré avec vicariat perpétuel était à la nomination du prieur de l'abbaye Saint-Eutrope de Saintes. Le pignon de la façade occidentale a été restauré en 1858 puis après la Seconde guerre mondiale. L'édifice est en forme de croix latine et se compose d'une nef, d'un transept et d'un choeur à chevet plat. Sur la croisée du transept se trouvait autrefois le clocher carré à la base. La nef était couverte de voûtes en plein cintre, en briques creuses et plâtre sur doubleaux en pierre. Le mur oriental est percé d'une grande fenêtre à meneaux du 15e siècle. Le choeur est couvert d'une voûte sur croisée d'ogives retombant sur des chapiteaux. Sous la dernière travée de choeur se trouve une crypte couverte d'une voûte en arc brisé. L'accès se fait par la façade nord, par un emmarchement extérieur de plan circulaire. L'extrémité sud de la crypte est éclairée par une petite fenêtre. Dans l'angle de la nef et du croisillon nord, un escalier à vis donnait accès à l'ancien clocher. La façade occidentale s'ouvre, en son centre, par un portail surmonté d'une archivolte à quatre voussures sculptées retombant sur des colonnettes. Ce portail est flanqué de deux arcatures aveugles, surmontées d'archivoltes sculptées retombant également sur des colonnettes. Une frise sculptée traverse l'arcature à la hauteur des chapiteaux des colonnettes. History
Founded in 1103, this priory with perpetual vicariate was in the patronage of the prior of the abbey of Saint-Eutrope of Saintes. The gable of the western façade was restored in 1858 then after the Second World War. The building is in the form of a Latin cross and consists of a nave, a transept and a choir with flat chevet.
