Historique
L'église faisait partie, en 1030, des possessions du chapitre cathédral d'Angoulême, puis du diocèse de Saintes. Construite à la fin du 12e siècle, elle fut ruinée à la fin de la guerre de Cent ans puis rebâtie au 14e siècle et enfin restaurée, notamment dans ses voûtements, au 19e siècle. De l'édifice médiéval subsistent le chevet et le portail romans, la travée gothique sous clocher, partiellement les murs de la nef. Le 19e siècle a laissé son empreinte sur la façade, l'ensemble des voûtes, l'élévation sud, le clocher et la sacristie. L'édifice de plan rectangulaire est prolongé par un chevet demi-circulaire qui a conservé une corniche à modillons sculptés. Dans la nef divisée en trois travées voûtées sur croisée d'ogives, seule la troisième est ancienne.

History
The church was part, in 1030, of the possessions of the cathedral chapter of Angoulême, then of the diocese of Saintes. Built at the end of the 12th century, it was ruined at the end of the Hundred Years' War and then rebuilt in the 14th century and finally restored, notably in its vaults, in the 19th century. Of the medieval edifice there remain the chevet and Romanesque portals, the Gothic bay under bell tower, partially the walls of the nave. The 19th century left its mark on the façade, all the vaults, the south elevation, the bell tower and the sacristy. The edifice of rectangular plan is extended by a semi-circular chevet which retained a cornice with sculptured corbels. In the nave divided into three bays vaulted with rib vaults, only the third is ancient.
