L'origine de Roissac se trouverait dans une villa gallo-romaine qui aurait ensuite fait place à un château féodal construit par les La Rochefoucauld, et aujourd'hui disparu. Le château actuel a été bâti aux alentours de 1770. Les dépendances ont été remaniées au 19e siècle (1830). Le logis est entouré de bâtiments formant cour. De plan rectangulaire, il est recouvert d'une toiture à pans brisés. Cinq travées de baies placées régulièrement, deux grandes portes surmontées de lucarnes en bois et une corniche moulurée constituent le décor de l'élévation antérieure. La partie droite semble avoir été construite à l'identique pour agrandir le logis. Un couloir sur cour distribue les pièces du rez-de-chaussée. Un salon conserve des lambris bas dans lesquels sont enchâssées des toiles peintes. Le plafond est orné de moulures en plâtre représentant un homme sur un tonneau et une femme portant un panier. Une cheminée monumentale fait le pendant aux trois autres du premier étage. Les combles sont couverts par une charpente à quatorze fermes.

History
The origin of Roissac would be found in a Gallo-Roman villa which then gave way to a feudal castle built by the La Rochefoucauld family, and now disappeared. The present castle was built around 1770. The outbuildings were remodelled in the 19th century (1830). The main dwelling is surrounded by buildings forming a courtyard. Of rectangular plan, it is covered with a mansard roof. Five bays of openings placed regularly, two large doors topped with wooden dormers and a moulded cornice constitute the decoration of the front elevation. The right part appears to have been built identically to enlarge the main dwelling. A corridor opening onto the courtyard distributes the rooms of the ground floor. A drawing room retains low wainscoting in which painted canvases are set. The ceiling is decorated with plaster mouldings representing a man on a barrel and a woman carrying a basket. A monumental fireplace is the counterpart to the three others on the first floor. The roof space is covered by a roof structure with fourteen trusses.
