Historique
D'origine romane, sans doute élevée au 12e siècle, l'église était autrefois unie à l'archidiaconé de Saintes. Les deux travées orientales furent restaurées au 15e siècle. Les peintures murales datent de cette époque. L'édifice est de plan rectangulaire à nef unique et chevet plat. Une partie des murs de la nef a conservé ses modillons sculptés mais a perdu sa corniche. Le chevet est plat. La partie basse de ce chevet conserve une petite fenêtre en plein cintre qui semble ouvrir dans une salle située sous le choeur. Le clocher élève un niveau au-dessus d'une base carrée. Il est percé de baies géminées ou non suivant les faces, supportées par des colonnes à chapiteaux sculptés. Au niveau du clocher, la coupole de faux carré du transept a été remplacée par une voûte gothique octopartite dans la partie centrale de laquelle a été ménagée le trou des cloches.

History
Of Romanesque origin, probably erected in the 12th century, the church was formerly united to the archdeaconry of Saintes. The two eastern bays were restored in the 15th century. The mural paintings date from this period. The building is of rectangular plan with a single nave and flat chevet. Part of the walls of the nave has retained its sculpted modillions but has lost its cornice. The chevet is flat. The lower part of this chevet preserves a small round-arch window which seems to open into a room situated beneath the choir. The bell tower rises one storey above a square base. It is pierced with paired or single openings depending on the faces, supported by columns with sculpted capitals. At the level of the bell tower, the dome of the false square of the transept has been replaced by an octopartite Gothic rib vault in the central part of which the bell opening has been made.
