Le château dépendait de la principauté de Chabanais. L'accès se fait par un portail sur un pont au-dessus des douves. Une allée plantée d'arbres conduit à l'édifice rectangulaire précédé de deux tours qui étaient à l'origine rattachées au château. Celle à l'est renferme des lambris peints. Elle aurait été aménagée en chapelle après avoir servi à la défense. Le bâtiment rectangulaire s'élève d'un étage sur rez-de-chaussée. Un avant-corps arrondi situé sur la façade postérieure affine la construction. Cet avant-corps est souligné par un escalier en pierre menant au premier étage, dans un salon rond percé de niches et orné de peintures.

History
The castle depended on the principality of Chabanais. Access is by a gateway over a bridge above the moat. An avenue lined with trees leads to the rectangular building preceded by two towers which were originally connected to the castle. The one to the east contains painted timber framing. It would have been fitted out as a chapel after having served for defence. The rectangular building rises one storey above the ground floor. A rounded avant-corps situated on the rear facade refines the construction. This avant-corps is underlined by a stone staircase leading to the first storey, in a round sitting room pierced with niches and adorned with paintings.
