Cette maison est appelée "hôtel Allenet" du nom du maire de Cognac en 1582 et dont la maison d'habitation se trouvait dans le voisinage. La niche Renaissance creusée dans l'angle formé par les deux façades de l'hôtel a été construite sur l'ordre d'A. Allenet. Rue des Cordeliers, la façade présente une large baie dessinant un arc en anse de panier. Il s'agit de l'ancienne fenêtre de l'éventaire d'une boutique. Sur la rue de l'Isle d'Or, la façade n'est pas rectiligne. Une large baie avec arc en anse de panier est percée très près du sol. Près de celle-ci et en hauteur, une cheminée en pierre de taille fait saillie sur le mur. A proximité et en faible saillie se trouve une sorte de tourelle au-dessus d'une petite baie.

History
This house is called the "hôtel Allenet" from the name of the mayor of Cognac in 1582 whose dwelling house was located in the neighbourhood. The Renaissance niche carved into the angle formed by the two façades of the hôtel was constructed on the orders of A. Allenet. On the rue des Cordeliers, the façade presents a wide opening forming a basket-handle arch. This is the former shop window of a boutique. On the rue de l'Isle d'Or, the façade is not rectilinear. A wide opening with a basket-handle arch is pierced very close to the ground. Near it and higher up, a stone dressing chimney projects from the wall. Nearby and with little projection is found a sort of turret above a small opening.
