Le faubourg de l'Houmeau était le plus densément peuplé au 18e siècle, ainsi que le plus riche. Le seul élément décoratif du corps central est la porte-fenêtre du premier étage, donnant sur un balcon orné de fer forgé, reposant sur deux consoles gravées de cannelures. History
The suburb of Houmeau was the most densely populated in the 18th century, as well as the richest. This wealth was due to its port whose existence is attested from the 12th century, and which made this suburb a depot for numerous goods. The port probably required the presence of a militia and thus a captaincy. The plan of the latter is designed in the form of a U. A central dwelling block, with two storeys and an attic storey, is flanked by two wings in return with a single storey, which are organised around an inner courtyard closed by a gateway to the west. A wall closes the courtyard connecting the gateway to the two pavilions in return at right angles. The doors are set within an arch with a keystone. Windows within an oculus are a decorative principle appearing above each opening of the ground floor of the central building. On the return wings serving as ancillary buildings, the same system is found but the oculi are open. The sole decorative element of the central block is the French door of the first storey, giving onto a balcony adorned with wrought ironwork, resting on two consoles carved with fluting. The attic storey recalls the summits of ancient temples, with its succession of fluted triglyphs between which open small windows.
