History

The church is composed of an old Romanesque chapel with a single nave and semi-circular apse, to the north side of which was attached, probably at the end of the 15th century, a nave with transept and polygonal chevet. In the south wall of the old Romanesque chapel open two round-arch portals, with three offsets of rectangular section, of a type fairly widespread in the region. The Gothic part, built in irregular rubble stone, is vaulted with simple ribs or with liernes and tiercerons. The Gothic vaults were continued above the Romanesque nave whose gutter walls were raised to the level of the new construction. The central part of this chapel thus constituted the first bay of the enlarged church, while the two extremities were transformed into side chapels. The south façade was reworked in the 18th century. The trumeau separating the Romanesque portals being taken as the axis, the façade was framed with two pilasters of Doric style and was crowned with a curved pediment. Two small pyramids placed on the sides of the pediment and a small convex-plan porch tower pierced by three arcades, complete the silhouette of this façade. Two lower walls, crowned with classical pediments, were built at right angles on each side of the façade. The whole forms a small rectangular square.
