Historique
Eolienne construite entre 1898 et 1900 par Auguste Bollée. D'une hauteur totale de douze mètres environ, elle se compose d'une tige en fonte qui sert de noyau à un escalier en vis, également en fonte. L'absence de contre-marche confère beaucoup de légèreté à ce serpentin métallique. Dans sa partie supérieure, une plateforme conçue comme une hune de navire, permet l'inspection des engrenages, rouages et la double rangée de volets métalliques de la roue. Un garde-fou protège cette plateforme et indique les points cardinaux. L'ensemble est maintenu par un réseau de tiges d'acier, ancrées au sol sur le pourtour de la machine.

History
Windpump constructed between 1898 and 1900 by Auguste Bollée. With a total height of approximately twelve metres, it comprises a cast-iron stem which serves as a core to a spiral staircase, also in cast iron. The absence of risers gives much lightness to this metal spiral. In its upper part, a platform conceived as a ship's crow's nest allows inspection of the gears, wheels and the double row of metal vanes of the rotor. A railguard protects this platform and indicates the cardinal points. The whole is maintained by a network of steel rods, anchored to the ground around the perimeter of the machine.
