The castle is a former commandery of the Temple, whose foundations date back to the 13th century. Modifications are made in the 15th, 17th and 18th centuries. Around a quadrilateral, several building structures of different periods are arranged: two storeys plus a roof-space storey on a ground floor of the 15th-16th centuries and the 17th century. In the 18th century, a western structure, in a return of square, is added on the garden side overlooking a high terrace built above the rib-vaulted cellars. The main façade is on the east side, the current door seems to date from the 19th century. The round semi-projecting tower at the angle of the east and north façades is built largely in basalt and is crowned with machicolations which could date back to the 14th or 15th century. To the west, a corner turret is suspended on a corbel with four steps. The castle chapel is adjoined to the south; a bell tower rises on the east gable wall. The outbuildings to the west have disappeared but the enclosure has been partly preserved, surrounding a treed park.
