Of Romanesque origin (end 11th century: chevet and transept, main structure of the nave, elements of architectural decoration), the building has been taken up several times and additions or modifications have transformed its original appearance, notably the interior (14th-15th century and 17th-18th century). This civic church is of historical importance, having served as the setting for the massacre of the Cathars by French crusaders. Basilical plan with three naves of six bays, with transept and pentagonal apse. Side chapel, porch to the south, sacristy to the north-east. Bell tower with four levels, surmounted by an octagonal spire. Octagonal turret in the south-east angle of the bell tower.
