Le style de l'hôtel le date d'avant 1553. Entre 1526 et 1550, Monsieur de Sorgues se rendit acquéreur des maisons adjacentes qui devaient constituer, par leur union, le vaste hôtel. Si la plupart de ces petits immeubles furent probablement démolis pour leur réadaptation au nouvel hôtel, il y a tout lieu de croire que le plus important, celui qui correspond à l'entrée avec sa tourelle, fut conservé. Cette partie s'ouvre par une porte de la fin du 15e siècle, couverte d'un arc en anse de panier, très déprimé, décoré de multiples moulures dont certaines s'entrecroisent aux angles, tandis que d'autres pénètrent dans les piédroits. Ceux-ci sont garnis de faisceaux de colonnettes surmontées de petits gâbles. Vers le haut, ces piliers se prolongent par des pinacles. La porte est suivie par un passage couvert par un plafond de la même époque que la porte, orné d'un décor peint qui paraît plus tardif. Sur la cour, le passage est limité par un arc surbaissé. La tourelle de l'escalier en vis se trouve au débouché de ce passage. Polygonale, elle fait saillie sur la cour par trois côtés. La tour a perdu au moins deux étages de sa hauteur initiale. Ce serait dans celle-ci qu'aurait été assassiné Laudun, lieutenant du vicomte de Joyeuse, en octobre 1561, lors des guerres de Religion.

History
The style of the hôtel dates it before 1553. Between 1526 and 1550, Monsieur de Sorgues became owner of the adjoining houses which were to constitute, through their union, the vast hôtel. If most of these small buildings were probably demolished for their adaptation to the new hôtel, there is every reason to believe that the most important one, the one which corresponds to the entrance with its turret, was preserved. This part opens through a door from the end of the 15th century, covered with a very depressed basket-handle arch, decorated with multiple mouldings some of which interweave at the angles, whilst others penetrate into the jambs. These are furnished with bundles of small columnettes topped with small gables. Towards the top, these pillars are extended by pinnacles. The door is followed by a passage covered by a ceiling from the same period as the door, adorned with painted decoration which appears later. Facing the courtyard, the passage is limited by a depressed arch. The turret of the spiral staircase is found at the outlet of this passage. Polygonal, it projects on the courtyard on three sides. The tower has lost at least two storeys of its original height. It was supposedly within this one that Laudun, lieutenant of the vicomte de Joyeuse, was assassinated in October 1561, during the Wars of Religion.
