Historique
Château construit vers 1754 par Rollin, architecte de la province de Languedoc, pour le marquis de Calvière, sur l'emplacement d'un couvent. Conçu et construit en peu de temps, il se trouve être un rare et imposant témoin de l'époque Louis XV dans la région. Le bâtiment se compose d'un corps principal et de deux ailes en retour qui se prolongent en galeries-terrasses pour fermer une cour d'honneur. Une galerie à l'italienne et des bâtiments de régie se trouvent à droite de cet ensemble. Face à la cour d'honneur et en contrebas, des emmarchements conduisent à une pièce d'eau et l'encadrent. A droite de la pièce d'eau, des communs renferment les écuries et remises. Face à la régie se trouve un petit théâtre, qui est peut-être d'époque Louis XV mais a été très restauré au début du 19e siècle. Au nord du château, les emmarchements situés entre les murs de soutènement sont ornés de niches et conduisent au château d'eau. A l'intérieur, l'aile droite conserve une pièce avec niches d'angle et tapisseries persannes. L'accès au premier étage se fait par un large escalier ouvrant sur une large galerie dont les parois contiennent, encastrés, des fragments de stèles et des vestiges romains trouvés dans le voisinage. Cette galerie dessert une succession de chambres.

History
Château built around 1754 by Rollin, architect of the province of Languedoc, for the Marquis de Calvière, on the site of a convent. Conceived and built in a short time, it is a rare and imposing witness to the Louis XV period in the region. The building consists of a main body and two wings returning in depth which extend as gallery-terraces to close a court of honour. An Italian gallery and farm buildings are found to the right of this ensemble. Facing the court of honour and below, steps lead to a water feature and frame it. To the right of the water feature, outbuildings contain stables and coach-houses. Facing the farm buildings is found a small theatre, which is perhaps of Louis XV date but was much restored in the early 19th century. To the north of the château, the steps situated between the retaining walls are ornamented with niches and lead to the water tower. In the interior, the right wing retains a room with corner niches and Persian tapestries. Access to the first storey is by a wide staircase opening onto a wide gallery whose walls contain, let in, fragments of stelae and Roman remains found in the neighbourhood. This gallery serves a succession of rooms.
