History
The tower is believed to have been built in 1320. At that time, Anduze was the chief town of a royal viguerie. The round tower flanked the south-east angle of a vast fortified enclosure which connected to the fortifications of the castle, built in the 12th century. This tower on the edge of the Gardon was of great importance both for defence and for watch duty. This is why it was maintained and adapted to new weapons.
