Historique

History
The land of Puichéric was conquered by Simon de Montfort and given by him to Lambert de Thury in 1209. Subsequently, several owners succeeded one another. The dwelling buildings surround the four sides of a square inner courtyard, with entrance from the east. The garden is found to the west, bounded by the old perimeter walls, reinforced by a single square tower, later transformed into a pavilion. The outbuildings are situated to the east and frame the passages between the outer gateway and the courtyard entrance. The round arch of the gateway is decorated with coffers with foliage. Pilasters framed it, of which only the impost blocks remain. Some mouldings of the entablature have survived. It appears that above it there may have been a keeper's lodge now demolished. A covered passage opens onto the courtyard. The north facade is pierced, on the first floor, by a window with crossed mullions, moulded, like the interior framings, with two cavets separated by a fillet. The window is framed by two Corinthian columns which rest on Tuscan columns at ground floor level. The entrance door to the apartments opens onto the south facade. It is a tabernacle door, with broken pediment and two series of moulded framing with brackets. This door opens onto a two-flight staircase serving one storey and consisting of a sculpted rail. The starting pillar is decorated, on three faces, with a rectangular cartouche extended by two semi-circles, carved on two planes and as a quarter-circle at the pillar face. At the landing of the storey, the corner pillar is decorated with similar cartouches, turning onto the two faces adjacent to the edge. The ceilings of the north-east corner are visible in a first-floor room. The paintings, located on the lateral faces of the main beams, depict a series of flower baskets, bouquets and oval medallions with landscapes, linked by ribbons held by cupids, with a border of acanthus leaves. The paintings visible in the attic likewise represent various motifs, linking oval medallions. The subjects of these medallions are very varied (port, warship, landscape, fortress). The square tower at the back of the garden is a powerful construction, probably earlier than the 16th-century restorations. It was covered with a dome. The interior also retains a series of medallions painted in fresco which appear to date from the end of the 17th century.
