Le nom de Carbonac apparaît dans une cession de 1257 par le sénéchal à l'évêque de Carcassonne, de certaines rentes à Carbonac. History
The name Carbonac appears in a cession of 1257 by the seneschal to the bishop of Carcassonne, of certain rents at Carbonac. The census of 1500 mentions an ancient tower with high, middle and low justice. For a small seigneury placed in unfavourable defensive conditions, this narrow tower of almost square plan could have served as a watch tower. At the base, the courses are of irregular small ashlar. Towards the top, a few more regular courses are in medium ashlar. The only openings, rectangular, are relatively recent. Roof in barrel vault of rubble. The base would be occupied by a small vaulted chamber with a barrel vault. The external stair, constructed to access the door, is not old.
