History
At the beginning of the Hundred Years War, the town of Lagrasse was not in a state of defence. The ditches that ringed the town, mentioned in some documents from the early 14th century, had been progressively transformed into gardens and orchards. In 1359, the fortifications were restored and reinforced. This tower is the only one that remains from the ancient fortified enclosure of the village, distinct from that of the abbey.
