Diverses reconnaissances anciennes (1396, 1415, 1503) montrent que cet immeuble était autrefois morcelé, l'angle appartenant à la ville pour servir de "mazel" (marché à la viande). Par la suite, l'angle devint une fontaine publique et ne fut incorporé à l'immeuble qu'au 19e siècle. La façade fut alors refaite avec travées rythmiques et niches, mais aucun élément ancien ne s'y distingue. Le grand escalier est situé à l'ouest de la cour intérieure. Sa rampe, de style 18e, porte les armoiries des Gauzy, avec les quartiers et les couronnes des marquis de Malespina-Alos. L'escalier se développe en trois volées droites égales. La rampe en fer forgé se continue au long du palier du premier étage, formant galerie. La rampe se compose de plusieurs parties qui diffèrent à la fois par le style et par les procédés d'exécution ; d'une part les panneaux de la première et de la troisièmes volées, d'autre part ceux de la seconde volée et de la galerie. Les pilastres de départ et d'assemblage sont tous identiques. L'axe vertical des petits panneaux d'assemblage est occupé par un rectangle en fer dont le remplage comprend six ovales superposés. Les assemblages sont dissimulés par des quatre-feuilles en tôle, à double face. Ce rectangle intérieur est entouré par un second rectangle, lié latéralement au premier par deux ovales et comportant, en haut et en bas, des retours d'équerre et, sur les côtés, des retours arrondis. Le panneau unique de la première et de la troisième volées est délimité par un parallèlogramme dont l'encadrement se relie à la main courante et aux autres fers extérieurs, au centre par des ovales, aux angles par des volutes. La décoration intérieure est symétriquement composée de trois motifs : au centre, une sorte de fleur épanouie ; sur les côtés, trois boucles inserrées à la base entre des feuilles de tôle incurvées. Le tout est lié au cadre par des volutes et des croissants spiralés. Les panneaux de la seconde volée et de la galerie sont symétriques par rapport à un motif central, réduit ici à un fleuron vertical à double face. Les volutes l'entourent en forme de coeur. Dans le panneau central de la galerie, ce remplage fait place à l'écusson des Gauzy. Une des fenêtres de la façade sur cour a conservé une grille d'appui du même type que les grands panneaux des volées un et trois.

Various old records (1396, 1415, 1503) show that this property was formerly subdivided, the corner belonging to the town to serve as a "mazel" (meat market). This inner rectangle is surrounded by a second rectangle, linked laterally to the first by two ovals and comprising, at the top and bottom, right-angled returns and, on the sides, rounded returns. The single panel of the first and third flights is delimited by a parallelogram whose frame connects to the handrail and to the other outer ironwork, at the centre by ovals, at the angles by scrolls. The interior decoration is symmetrically composed of three motifs: at the centre, a kind of blooming flower; on the sides, three loops inserted at the base between curved sheet metal leaves. Everything is linked to the frame by scrolls and spiralled crescents. The panels of the second flight and of the gallery are symmetrical with respect to a central motif, reduced here to a vertical finial with double faces. The scrolls surround it in the form of a heart. In the central panel of the gallery, this infill gives way to the Gauzy coat of arms. One of the windows of the courtyard façade has retained a balustrade grille of the same type as the large panels of flights one and three.
