Cette porte fut construite d'après les plans de l'ingénieur architecte de la ville, Dolbeau. L'écusson extérieur portant les armes du Roi, avait dix pieds de haut sur neuf de large. Les cordons de saint Louis et de saint Michel y étaient sculptés. L'encadrement était formé par des branches de laurier. L'écusson intérieur, un peu moins grand, était aux armes de la ville, surmontées d'une couronne de comte. Cette porte s'appelait, à l'origine, Porte Saint-Louis. History
This gate was built according to the plans of the city's engineer architect, Dolbeau. The exterior escutcheon bearing the arms of the King was ten feet high by nine feet wide. The cords of Saint Louis and Saint Michael were sculpted there. The framing was formed by branches of laurel. The interior escutcheon, somewhat smaller, bore the arms of the city, surmounted by a count's crown. This gate was originally called Porte Saint-Louis. The portal comprises, on the return, a wall decorated with a fountain in a cul-de-four shape with a basin.
