Historique
Depuis la construction de la prise d'eau dite de l'Origine, à plusieurs kilomètres de Carcassonne, le développement des fontaines publiques et des branchements particuliers, avait rendu nécessaire un bassin de répartition pour les divers secteurs de la ville basse. Les Augustins vendirent à la ville une petite maison de leur enclos. Le toisé en vue de l'achat est réalisé en 1750. La construction est achevée en 1756. En 1775, ce bassin contenait cinq soupasses distribuant la paroisse Saint-Vincent, la place, les faubourgs et enfin la paroisse Saint-Michel. Ce bassin ayant été abandonné au 19e siècle après la construction de la prise d'eau de Maquens et des réservoirs de Grazaille, l'immeuble a été transformé en maison particulière. La façade présente un grand fronton triangulaire suivant les pentes du toit. L'intérieur du fronton est orné d'un cartouche ovale dominé par une coquille. Rameaux de feuillages à droite et à gauche. History
Since the construction of the intake known as l'Origine, several kilometres from Carcassonne, the development of public fountains and private connections had made necessary a distribution basin for the various sectors of the lower town. The Augustinians sold the town a small house from their enclosure. The measurement survey for the purchase was carried out in 1750. Construction was completed in 1756. In 1775, this basin contained five soupasses distributing to the parish of Saint-Vincent, the square, the suburbs and finally the parish of Saint-Michel. This basin having been abandoned in the 19th century after the construction of the Maquens intake and the Grazaille reservoirs, the building was converted into a private residence. The façade presents a large triangular gable following the roof slopes. The interior of the gable is decorated with an oval cartouche dominated by a shell. Sprays of foliage to the right and to the left. Niche with round-arched surround which must have contained a statue of the Virgin.
