Le couvent des Augustins abritait une communauté de chanoines qui avait été fondée au 14e siècle par le Cardinal Gauvain de Mortemart. L'activité principale de la communauté était l'enseignement des jeunes gens. Auprès d'un cloître médiéval, dont il ne subsiste que quelques rares vestiges, les chanoines ont reconstruit à la fin du 18e siècle le bâtiment de l'aile sud. Cet édifice est attribué à l'architecte Brousseau. Il fut mis sous séquestre à la Révolution et fut affecté en 1805 à la Sénatorerie de Limoges comme le couvent des Carmes voisin. Le domaine fut acheté par un particulier en 1823. L'ancien couvent se compose d'un long corps de logis rectangulaire avec, à l'arrière- plan, une demi- tour engagée dans le mur plat. La façade sud est la plus intéressante avec son décor - très simple - et la symétrie de son ordonnance. Elle présente au centre un avant-corps plat surmonté d'un fronton triangulaire. Elle est rythmée par les travées de fenêtres s'élevant sur deux niveaux.

History
The convent of the Augustinians housed a community of canons that had been founded in the 14th century by Cardinal Gauvain de Mortemart. The principal activity of the community was the teaching of young men. Near a medieval cloister, of which only a few rare remains survive, the canons rebuilt at the end of the 18th century the building of the south wing. This building is attributed to architect Brousseau. It was placed under sequester at the Revolution and was allocated in 1805 to the Sénatorerie of Limoges as the neighbouring Carmelite convent. The estate was purchased by a private individual in 1823. The former convent consists of a long rectangular main dwelling with, in the background, a semi-tower engaged in the flat wall. The south façade is the most interesting with its decoration - very simple - and the symmetry of its arrangement. It presents in the centre a flat avant-corps surmounted by a triangular pediment. It is articulated by the bays of windows rising over two levels.
