Historique
La partie Est de l'hôtel de ville est ce qui reste de l'édifice du 17e siècle qui servait de palais de justice au présidial et à la sénéchaussée de la Marche jusqu'à la Révolution, puis de palais de justice au tribunal et à la cour d'assises de la Creuse jusqu'en 1835. La façade en retour d'équerre est bâtie en pierres de taille de granit, avec pilastres encadrant les ouvertures, un cartouche sculpté au-dessus d'une fenêtre, un bandeau et une torsade sculptée. History
The eastern part of the town hall is what remains of the 17th-century building which served as courthouse for the présidial and the sénéchaussée of the Marche until the Revolution, then as courthouse for the tribunal and the court of assizes of the Creuse until 1835. The façade at right angles is built in cut granite stonework, with pilasters framing the openings, a sculpted cartouche above a window, a band and a sculpted torsade. Stone staircase with landings and round arch transverse arches. The room on the ground floor of the wing projecting in elevation has retained an old fireplace and its ceiling with exposed beams. The portal, on the Marché square, providing access to the passage leading to the building, is adorned with pilasters.
