Ce château est l'un des exemples restés complets de maison forte du 15e siècle dans la Marche. Entre deux tours rondes a été élevée une tour carrée portant, à son sommet, une bretèche soutenue par trois corbeaux. Deux autres bretèches, posées sur deux corbeaux, existent sur la tour ronde nord-est. Le chemin de ronde aux mâchicoulis posés sur corbeaux profilés, entre deux quart de rond, d'un cavet dégagé par des filets, est interrompu entre les deux tours rondes. Sur la façade opposée, la tour carrée, d'une hauteur supérieurE au bâtiment principal, a son chemin de ronde à mi-hauteur du toit de ce dernier. Certaines des ouvertures primitives ont été remplacées par des baies modernes plus vastes. A l'angle nord-ouest a été accolé un bâtiment rectangulaire abritant la chapelle actuelle. L'ensemble est entouré de douves en eau ayant conservé leur tracé primitif. Ces douves sont franchies par un pont précédé d'un pavillon porche fortifié, ouvrant par un portail et une porte chanfreinés surmontés d'une rangée de corbeaux. Perpendiculairement à ce pavillon, une porte fortifiée joint l'ancienne chapelle transformée en bâtiment d'exploitation. Ce portail, mouluré d'un cavet, est surmonté d'un chemin de ronde porté sur une rangée de corbeaux, et percé de créneaux et de petites bouches à feu circulaires ouvrant sur une galerie. Dans l'angle intérieur formé par ce portail et le pavillon, se trouve une petite construction dont le caractère défensif est attesté par la présence de plusieurs bouches à feu. A l'intérieur, se trouvent six cheminées en pierre dont une ornée de sculptures.

History
This castle is one of the complete surviving examples of a 15th-century stronghouse in the Marche. Between two round towers a square tower was built, bearing at its summit a bretèche supported by three corbels. Two other bretèches, set on two corbels, exist on the north-east round tower. The wall-walk with machicolations set on corbels profiled between two quarter-rounds, a cove separated by fillets, is interrupted between the two round towers. On the opposite façade, the square tower, of a height superior to the main building, has its wall-walk at mid-height of the roof of the latter. Some of the original openings have been replaced by larger modern bays. At the north-west corner a rectangular building was attached housing the present chapel. The whole is surrounded by water-filled moats which have retained their original layout. These moats are crossed by a bridge preceded by a fortified porch pavilion, opening by a chamfered portal and door surmounted by a row of corbels. Perpendicular to this pavilion, a fortified door joins the former chapel transformed into an outbuilding. This portal, moulded with a cove, is surmounted by a wall-walk carried on a row of corbels, and pierced with crenellations and small circular gun-loops opening onto a gallery. In the interior angle formed by this portal and the pavilion, there is a small construction whose defensive character is attested by the presence of several gun-loops. Inside, there are six stone fireplaces, one of which is adorned with sculptures.
