Historique

History
Decided in 1847, the construction of a new courthouse took shape only in 1852, after the architect of the department, Cotin, had drawn up the plans of the edifice. The work was entrusted to the contractor Monlau, and was completed in 1855. The principal facade, with superimposed orders, comprises a central body and two pavilions. A triangular pediment crowns these two pavilions. The entrance hall, whose original floor has been changed in 1976, is rhythmed by fluted marble columns. It gives access to a square courtyard on which are arranged four buildings with portico and high galleries. The edifice was restored after the destructions of 1943.
