History

The church is said to have been built in the 13th century by the hospitalier brothers of Saint John of Jerusalem who possessed a commandery at Montbouy. It is of Latin-cross plan with projecting transept, choir with polygonal chevet and possesses an aisle to the north. On the south arm of the transept is found the square bell tower with buttresses. The nave presents, on the north side, large arcades in pointed arch, resting on a base with mouldings of the 15th century. On the south side, the old wall has been pierced with small pointed-arch windows whose tracery with curves and counter-curves is more recent. The crossing of the transept is vaulted with ribs with tiercerons. The five windows of the choir are round-arch with three trilobed lancets and quadrilobed tracery at the chevet.
