History
The grain hall, which replaced the former grain market of the 13th century, is a construction of rectangular plan, begun in 1849 on a project by Jean de la Morandière. The materials (polychrome brick and stones), the slate roof and the turrets which flank the building, are intended to recall the spirit of the constructions of the reign of Louis XII. Inside, four rows of pillars in stone arranged in a rectangle and supporting a gallery at the upper level, determine a nave and four aisles. The roof structure is in wood with steel tie-beams. Eight large entrances open the building.
