Historique
Le Bas-Cousse formait un fief relevant de la baronnie de l'Ile-Bouchard. Le logis seigneurial comprend un bâtiment rectangulaire et un pavillon carré épaulé, aux angles sud-ouest, sud-est et nord-est, de contreforts amortis par un petit dôme à hauteur du plancher de l'étage supérieur. Le rez-de-chaussée de ce pavillon est occupé par la chapelle, couverte d'une voûte sur ogives et liernes à moulures prismatiques, réunies par une nervure circulaire concentrique à la clef centrale. Celle-ci et les quatre clés intermédiaires portaient des pendentifs qui ont disparu. Les ogives retombent dans les angles sur des culots décorés d'angelots ou d'animaux fantastiques. Une fuye cylindrique en ruine se dresse à l'ouest de la cour précédant le logis.

History
Le Bas-Cousse formed a fief dependent on the barony of Ile-Bouchard. The seigneurial main dwelling comprises a rectangular building and a square pavilion buttressed, at the south-west, south-east and north-east angles, by counterforts finished off by a small dome at the height of the upper floor landing. The ground floor of this pavilion is occupied by the chapel, covered by a rib vault with liernes with prismatic mouldings, joined by a concentric circular rib to the central keystone. This and the four intermediate keystones bore pendentives which have disappeared. The ribs spring in the corners onto corbels decorated with cherubs or fantastic animals. A ruined cylindrical dovecote stands to the west of the courtyard preceding the main dwelling.
