Historique
Monument composé d'un corps de bâtiment central faisant avancée sur les deux ailes. L'escalier donne accès au hall d'entrée qui mène à l'escalier d'honneur. Les trois portes centrales sont encadrées par des Atlantes qui soutiennent le balcon. Deux personnages allégoriques du Cher et de la Loire encadrent les deux cariatides qui soutiennent le fronton curviligne qui surmonte l'horloge et dans lequel est sculpté un masque du Temps. De part et d'autre du bâtiment central, les deux ailes sont symétriques. L'étage noble est occupé par une grande baie encadrée de deux jeux de colonnes ioniques. Au-dessus de la baie, le fronton es triangulaire et décoré d'une coquille surmontant une gueule de lion d'où partent deux cornes d'abondance surmontées de personnages allégoriques couchés. Le mur nord est orné de médaillons sculptés dans lesquels sont peints les portraits de différents auteurs liés à la Touraine par leur naissance ou leur vie.

History
Monument composed of a central building block projecting forward on the two wings. The staircase gives access to the entrance hall which leads to the grand staircase. The three central doors are framed by Atlantes which support the balcony. Two allegorical figures of the Cher and the Loire frame the two caryatids which support the curved pediment which surmounts the clock and in which is carved a mask of Time. On either side of the central building, the two wings are symmetrical. The noble floor is occupied by a large opening framed by two sets of Ionic columns. Above the opening, the pediment is triangular and decorated with a shell surmounting a lion's mouth from which emanate two cornucopiae surmounted by allegorical figures reclining. The north wall is adorned with sculpted medallions in which are painted portraits of different authors linked to Touraine by their birth or their life.
