History
Windmills of the cavier type are a specificity of the Loire valley. In this wine-growing region, the cavier mill allowed for wine storage and avoided fires caused by the heating of millstones. The first mill of Les Pelouses dates from the 18th century, the second from 1820. The advent of steam and the competitiveness of water mills put an end to the windmills of Chouzé. In 1895, the sails were removed, thus marking the end of activities.
