Historique
Charlemagne fit don de Bournan à l'abbaye de Saint-Martin qui, vers 791, la céda à celle de Cormery. Le premier document mentionnant l'église date de 1139. Les murs de la nef ont conservé leur petit appareil qui pourrait être du 10e siècle. La porte d'entrée en pignon est en anse de panier moulurée et date du 15e siècle. L'abside, les deux absidioles, le transept et la tour carrée du clocher sont du 12e siècle. La tour du clocher est ornée, à son étage inférieur, sur chaque côté, de trois arcs en plein cintre, appuyés sur de courtes colonnes rondes dont les chapiteaux sont ornés de feuilles. Cette tour est flanquée d'une tourelle ronde d'escalier. La flèche octogonale, de pierre, date de la fin de l'époque gothique. Les murs du transept ont été légèrement surélevés au 19e, époque à laquelle son pignon et sa façade sud ont été percés d'une porte néogothique.

History
Charlemagne made a gift of Bournan to the abbey of Saint-Martin which, around 791, ceded it to that of Cormery. The first document mentioning the church dates from 1139. The walls of the nave have retained their small ashlar which could be from the 10th century. The entrance door in a gable is in a moulded curved-lintel arch and dates from the 15th century. The chevet, the two absidioles, the transept and the square tower of the bell tower are from the 12th century. The bell tower is adorned, at its lower storey, on each side, with three round arches, resting on short round columns whose capitals are ornamented with leaves. This tower is flanked by a round stair turret. The octagonal stone spire dates from the end of the Gothic period. The walls of the transept were slightly raised in the 19th century, at which time its gable and south facade were opened with a Neo-Gothic door.
