Historique
Colonne dressée sur une plate-forme carrée dont l'accès se fait d'un seul côté. La colonne se compose d'une base circulaire sur socle carré avec griffes aux angles ; d'un fût cylindrique de cinq mètres de haut ; d'un couronnement conique faisant saillie à sa base sur le parement de la colonne. Ce cône est décoré d'écailles et se terminait autrefois par un fleuron remplacé par une croix. Sous la partie conique, la colonne est évidée d'ouvertures destinées au passage de la lumière du fanal qui était suspendu au plafond du cône. Une des assises du fût s'avance en forme d'autel, faisant face aux gradins. A la hauteur de la table est percée une ouverture carrée avec feuillure extérieure destinée à recevoir une porte. Derrière la colonne, une saillie mutilée semble indiquer qu'une tablette de pierre soutenue par un cul de lampe a dû servir de crédence pour la célébration de l'office. History
Column erected on a square platform whose access is from one side only. The column consists of a circular base on square socle with claws at the angles; of a cylindrical shaft five metres high; of a conical crown projecting at its base onto the face of the column. This cone is decorated with scales and formerly ended in a finial replaced by a cross. Under the conical part, the column is hollowed with openings intended for the passage of light from the beacon which was suspended from the ceiling of the cone. One of the courses of the shaft projects in the form of an altar, facing the steps. At the height of the shelf is pierced a square opening with external rabbet intended to receive a door. Behind the column, a damaged projection seems to indicate that a stone shelf supported by a corbel must have served as a credence for the celebration of the office. The platform is surrounded by tombs.
