Le lieu est connu à l'époque romaine sous le nom de Buignum. La maison actuelle a été reconstruite au fil des siècles sur des fondations romaines dont quelques vestiges sont encore visibles dans la partie nord. Une partie du manoir fut démolie vers 1573, après un siège au cours des guerres de Religion. Le bâtiment le plus récent date de 1763 et a été édifié à l'emplacement d'une aile du manoir pour servir de séchoir à lin. Le manoir, dont les différents bâtiments sont ordonnés autour d'une cour carrée, est précédé d'un jardin orné de plantations en équerre ainsi que de jardins potagers à cheval sur la Rampenne et comprenant de petites mares jusqu'au canal du Berry. Il se compose d'une grange, d'un pigeonnier et d'un portail en anse de panier entre les deux. Le bâtiment du séchoir à lin, daté du 18e siècle, a été transformé en habitation. Lui fait suite, à cheval sur la Rampenne, le moulin. C'est dans cette ferme que le révérent père Prot, jésuite, revenant du Vénézuéla, acclimata vers la fin du 16e siècle, les coqs d'Inde (dindons) dont il avait rapporté en France les premiers couples.

History
The place is known in the Roman period under the name of Buignum. The present house was rebuilt over the centuries on Roman foundations, some remnants of which are still visible in the north part. Part of the manor was demolished around 1573, after a siege during the Wars of Religion. The most recent building dates from 1763 and was erected at the location of a wing of the manor to serve as a flax-drying shed. The manor, whose various buildings are arranged around a square courtyard, is preceded by a garden decorated with plantings at right angles as well as kitchen gardens straddling the Rampenne and comprising small ponds extending to the Berry canal. It consists of a barn, a dovecote and a basket-handle portal between the two. The flax-drying shed building, dated to the 18th century, was converted into a dwelling. Succeeding it, straddling the Rampenne, is the mill. It was on this farm that the Reverend Father Prot, Jesuit, returning from Venezuela, acclimated towards the end of the 16th century, the fowl of India (turkeys) of which he had brought back to France the first couples.
