Historique
Sur des restes de constructions romaines et médiévales (12e-13e siècle par les Comtes de Toulouse ; 14e siècle par les Anglais), l'évêque de Montauban fait ériger son hôtel dans la seconde moitié du 17e siècle. Après la Révolution, la commune acquiert l'hôtel et y installe différents services (sous-préfecture, tribunal, ...). Des travaux de restauration sont exécutés à la fin du Second Empire. Le plan général affecte la forme d'un quadrilatère, ayant aux angles quatre pavillons, avec une cour centrale. Le corps de logis de droite renferme le grand escalier de pierre qui dessert les étages et dont la partie inférieure conduit à plusieurs salles basses voûtées. Les salles sont couvertes de plafonds hauts, à solives apparentes et décorées.

History
On remains of Roman and medieval constructions (12th-13th century by the Counts of Toulouse; 14th century by the English), the bishop of Montauban had his residence built in the second half of the 17th century. After the Revolution, the commune acquires the residence and installs various services there (sub-prefecture, court, ...). Restoration work was carried out in the late Second Empire. The general plan takes the form of a quadrilateral, having at the corners four pavilions, with a central courtyard. The right main dwelling contains the great stone staircase which serves the floors and whose lower part leads to several vaulted lower rooms. The rooms are covered with high ceilings, with exposed beams and decorated.
