History

Château rebuilt in the third quarter of the 18th century, on the basis of an earlier building (probably from the 16th century). The old main dwelling with massive tower and staircase pavilion was doubled in area. The front façade is characterized by a fine ordonnance and careful ornamentation. The dwelling closes the perspective of an avenue leading to a forecourt surrounded by outbuildings, then to a courtyard of honour where stands the superb fountain in Campan marble. Behind the dwelling, the park and warren remain. Example of a "country house" of a great family of the Ancien Régime, preserved almost completely in its 18th-century state. Inside the château, very refined decoration (panelling and plasterwork of the 18th and 19th centuries, wallpapers, fireplaces, painted overmantels, floors, terracotta tilework, ...). The mill belongs to the estate of the château de la Motte, rebuilt in the third quarter of the 18th century. It is not dated. This windmill, of the tower type, in ashlar limestone, comprised at least one storey, as evidenced by the openings. Consolidated in 1999.
