"La clinique Sainte-Barbe est construite par la Société des Mines de Carmaux à partir de 1882 suivant les plans du dessinateur Valatx. Mise en service en 1891, elle est destinée à accueillir les blessés de la mine. Son architecture imitant un château classique peut être vue comme l'expression de la "tutélaire générosité" de la Société des Mines à l'égard de son personnel. La clinique est agrandie de 1921 à 1922 et ouverte aux familles des mineurs. La nouvelle annexe est surmontée d'une construction vitrée qui est remplacée en 1948 par un étage construit en retrait sur le toit-terrasse. Une chapelle est également construite en 1948. Désaffectée par l'administration des houillères en 1983, la clinique est vendue à la commune en 1988."

History
The Sainte-Barbe clinic is built by the Société des Mines de Carmaux from 1882 following the plans of the draughtsman Valatx. Put into service in 1891, it is intended to receive the injured from the mine. Its architecture imitating a classical château can be seen as the expression of the "tutelary generosity" of the Société des Mines towards its personnel. The clinic is enlarged from 1921 to 1922 and opened to the families of miners. The new annex is topped by a glazed construction which is replaced in 1948 by a storey built set back on the roof terrace. A chapel is also built in 1948. Decommissioned by the coal administration in 1983, the clinic is sold to the commune in 1988.
