Grande porte, appelée au Moyen Age Portail Pench (peint), entre deux tours, à ouverture en plein cintre. La porte est munie de deux rainures à herses et d'une longue meurtrière pour la manoeuvre du pont-levis. Elle est éclairée par une fenêtre percée sur chaque face, au-dessus du passage. La façade intérieure a été remaniée au 15e siècle (fenêtre en croix). Les différentes portes de la ville faisaient partie des enceintes construites successivement du 13e au 15e siècle pour la protection de Cordes. Ces portes sont aujourd'hui découronnées.

History
Large door, called in the Middle Ages the Portail Pench (painted), between two towers, with a round-arch opening. The door is fitted with two grooves for portcullises and a long murder hole for the operation of the drawbridge. It is lit by a window pierced on each face, above the passage. The interior façade was remodelled in the 15th century (cross window). The various gates of the town were part of the fortifications built successively from the 13th to the 15th century for the protection of Cordes. These gates are today without their upper parts.
